USPS P&DC CHILLER PLANT UPGRADES
The scope of this project consisted of replacing the existing cooling towers and degraded chillers within the facility plant. The facility already had a 250-ton rental chiller onsite from one of their JOC contractors, which allowed Peachtree to fully demolish the existing chillers and cooling towers.
Peachtree self-performed all new structural footer work and concrete pad extensions for both the interior and exterior portions of the chiller plant yard.
Peachtree installed three new 350-ton York magnetic bearing chillers and a three-cell EVAPCO cooling tower. The project also included the installation of new chilled water pumps, condenser water pumps, and all associated piping within the plant and at the exterior cooling tower locations.
Electrically, the team demolished the existing MCC and installed a new breaker in the main switchboard to accommodate new feeds for the MDP gear installed inside the building adjacent to the chiller room. New variable speed drives were installed for all new equipment.
A new standalone BAS for the chiller plant was installed, with successful integration of existing systems into the new DDC front-end controls.
Final commissioning was completed by third-party agent MEI at the conclusion of the project.
