Peachtree Mechanical participated in major laboratory mechanical infrastructure renovations and laboratory systems installations associated with the modernization of the USDA Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory and U.S. National Poultry Research Center campus in Athens, Georgia. The facility modernization program, constructed by, included advanced biosafety laboratory environments, research laboratories, containment spaces, and highly specialized mechanical infrastructure supporting critical poultry and biological research operations.

The project involved highly technical HVAC, exhaust, filtration, hydronic piping, and laboratory utility systems designed to support sensitive research activities requiring strict environmental control, contamination prevention, pressurization, and operational reliability.

Peachtree Mechanical’s scope included installation and coordination of specialized laboratory systems including:

  • HEPA filtration systems with automated scan and validation capabilities
  • High-containment laboratory exhaust systems
  • Pressure-controlled laboratory environments
  • Dedicated outside air systems
  • Laboratory air distribution systems
  • Chilled water and heating water piping systems
  • Steam and condensate systems
  • Laboratory plumbing and specialty piping systems
  • Environmental humidity and temperature control systems
  • Laboratory utility coordination and equipment connections
  • Mechanical room infrastructure systems
  • HVAC startup, flushing, testing, and commissioning support
  • Multi-trade BIM coordination and constructability review

The project required extensive coordination with USDA personnel, laboratory operations teams, engineers, commissioning agents, and construction management staff while performing work within active and highlysensitive research environments. These systems supported advanced biosafety laboratory operations and high-containment research functions similar in complexity to pharmaceutical, industrial process, and mission critical laboratory facilities.

This experience demonstrates Peachtree Mechanical’s capability to successfully execute highly specialized laboratory mechanical systems involving containment, filtration, environmental control, commissioning, and operational continuity within technically demanding federal research environments similar to the requirements associated with BASF Project Combine.
