Grady 1E NS & AHU-8, 2F Mechanical Upgrades
Peachtree Mechanical Inc. served as General Contractor for multiple renovation projects at Grady Memorial Hospital, including the replacement of one existing chiller supporting critical hospital systems, as well as the 2FMechanical Renovations and the 8F / 1ENurse’s Classroom Mechanical Renovations. All work was performed within a fully occupied healthcare facility and completed without interruption to regular hospital operations.
As General Contractor, PMI was responsible for overall planning, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, infection control planning, and direct coordination with hospital stakeholders. The chiller replacement and associated renovations required extensive shutdown planning, phased execution, and carefully sequenced system changeovers to maintain continuous service to clinical and support areas.
The project scope included replacement and integration of the chiller system, major air handling unit renovations, structural steel installation to support existing and new mechanical systems, and large slab saw cutting and structural modifications similar in complexity to central plant infrastructure work. All activities were meticulously coordinated to minimize operational impacts while maintaining safety, quality, and schedule control.
These projects highlight PMI’s capability to serve as General Contractor for complex chiller replacements and shutdown-intensive healthcare renovations within an active hospital environment, while maintaining uninterrupted facility operations.
