DISTRICT ENERGY PLANT (DEP-1) HVAC REPLACEMENT
Peachtree Mechanical Inc. was entrusted with replacing the 2,000-ton chiller, along with supporting pumps and the cooling tower, for District Energy Plant 1 at the University of Georgia. This upgrade significantly increased the cooling capacity of the district plant.
The team retrofitted the new chiller to integrate with the existing condenser water connections, ensuring seamless compatibility with the current infrastructure.
The scope of work included the demolition of two exhaust fans serving chilled air handling units, as well as the installation of two new cooling tower cells on the roof of the district plant.
A 6,000 GPM condenser water pump was installed to circulate water between the chiller and cooling tower, while a 4,000 GPM chilled water pump was installed to support efficient chilled water distribution across the campus.
