Centers for Disease Control
Project: Replacement of Auto Claves in Labs Description: Consisted of the installation of eight Autoclaves throughout Centers for Disease Control facilities. This involved strict coordination with CDC scientists and lab researchers to install the autoclaves. We demolished the existing autoclaves and sheet rock walls to prepare for the new larger units. This included new floor tile and new sheet rock walls. Also required was the installation of new steam piping along with new steam traps, pressure reducing valves, along with tempered water piping and components. Mike Campbell, construction Project Officer with the Centers for Disease Control, said the project was completed without occupant complaint, and indicated the Center looked forward to working with us on future projects. Project: Renovation of Small Pox Cook Tanks Phase I & Phase II
Description: The cook tank project was considered a high profile project with the Centers for Disease Control. The job consisted of renovating the cook process of bacteria, small pox, anthrax and other biological sources. The conversion took place by doing away with steam jacketing that heated the tanks from the outside to direct steam injection inside. This new process was to speed up the cooking time from 24 hours to 4 hours. Peachtree Mechanical Inc converted the tanks, adding all new stainless piping, stainless steel actuated ball valves, electrical, controls, thermal insulation, and test and balance. When the project was started up there were no problems and the cook process was successful. Our staff provided several classes and video taping to train CDC management on their new system. Our completion on this project was two weeks early and the project manager for CDC (Mike Campbell) thanked us for our outstanding work on this project. Project: Building 5 Water Conservation Project / Cooling Tower
Description: This project consisted of renovating the six story Building 5 Administration Building for CDC. This included installing a new 600 ton penthouse mounted cooling tower along with new pumps and controls. On the main floors below, Peachtree demolished and re-installed all existing ceiling grid, tile, controls, lighting and speakers. We then installed new main condenser water lines to each of the existing water-cooled air conditioning units throughout the six floors. Following, our crew insulated all piping and installed new ceiling tile. All of our work was done at night to avoid interruption with CDC personnel. This project was completed two months ahead of schedule |
